Who are the overcomers?
"Overcomer" is a military term. The word John uses, nikao, means the peace that is achieved by military victory, so to overcome the world is to have peace through victory. The overcomers are those born of God, those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and whose faith has conquered the world. To be an overcomer is to live in a realm of peace that is not external but internal, the rest of soul that Christ gives and that we also find as we abide in Him.
