After the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, how did the nature of the spiritual war change?
Before the cross, Satan had to contend with the omnipotence of God in a single Person, the Lord Jesus Christ. But at the resurrection and the coming of the Holy Spirit, everything changed: now every person who believes in the Savior carries that same omnipotence within, by the indwelling of the Spirit. Suddenly Satan faced not one man but eleven, then a hundred and twenty, then thousands, and soon believers all over the world walking in the very power that Jesus had in the flesh. Within seventy years the written Word was completed, so that the truth of the Word and the grace of the Spirit are now available without measure to every believer, and we stand as an offensive force in enemy territory.
