Who is the uniquely born Son and why did He enter the human race?

Jesus Christ is the second Person of the Trinity, the eternal Word who is the only visibly revealed member of the Godhead. As the uniquely born Son, He is the “Shekinah Glory” of God—the divine essence and character of the invisible Father made manifest in human form. Through the incarnation, the Word “became flesh” (John 1:14), transitioning from eternal pre-existence to existence in time. In this act, the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent Son chose to subject Himself to the limitations of human flesh, thought, and space, “tabernacling” among us to reveal God’s total purity and perfection.

This incarnation served a specific, redemptive purpose: Jesus was “born to die” (Gal. 4:4). Because the Fall alienated man from the life of God (Eph. 4:18), man became helpless to pay the penalty for sin. Christ entered the world as the seed of the woman to serve as our substitute, taking our place on the cross so that we might be imputed with His righteousness. By His death and resurrection, He provides the only means for man to move from spiritual death into “zoe”—the qualitative life of God—through faith in Him (John 3:15). He has “explained” the Father to us (John 1:18), displaying the character of God in the fullest sense.
