What is truth?

Truth is the Word of God (John 17:17). The Bible provides the body of truth—the doctrine—upon which believers base their perspective and make life decisions. Every principle, promise, and truth in the Word of God has value only as it relates to the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the embodiment of truth, described as a man "full of grace and truth" (John 1:14). He displays the character of God and reveals Him to the human race in the fullest sense.

Truth is revealed to believers through the Holy Spirit, who is known as "the Spirit of truth" (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13). The Spirit guides believers into all truth by enlightening the eyes of their heart (Eph. 1:18) as they study the Word.
