What is the Bible's role in training believers in righteousness?
The Bible serves as the believer's manual, described as the Word of God (Heb. 4:12), the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16), and the voice of the Spirit (Heb. 3:7). Through inspiration, the Holy Spirit supervised and superintended the authors of Scripture, ensuring they recorded exactly what God had to say. All Scripture is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16–17), leading believers from spiritual infancy to maturity. The process of sanctification, or being conformed to Christ's image, occurs through the Bible's instruction. Jesus Himself states that His word is truth (John 17:17), and Paul affirms that all Scripture is God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16–17). As a result, the Bible provides the body of truth and doctrine upon which believers base their perspective and life decisions, equipping them for every good work.
