What is the nature of faith according to the Bible?
Faith is reliance on the inspired Word of God, trusting that because God said it, it is true. It is not based on human reason or logic, nor does it depend on sight. Faith simply trusts in God's Word and looks beyond impossibility, requiring no proof. It is possible only when we consider ourselves dead to our old selves and alive in Christ. Faith does not waver or change, but is a conviction that leads to action. The power of faith lies not in the person or the faith itself, but in the object of faith, which is Jesus Christ. Through faith, believers experience the abundant life promised by Christ and are empowered for life by the Holy Spirit. As we daily live by faith, the Holy Spirit supplies us with power to be witnesses to the victory of Christ over Satan, sin, and death.
