What is the concept of rest in the Bible?
The concept of rest in the Bible encompasses various aspects, including the Sabbath day, the moment-by-moment sabbath, and eternal rest. The Sabbath of God sets the tone for all other sabbaths, demonstrating that God's work was accomplished on the seventh day. The moment-by-moment sabbath is a state of being where we live every moment in peace, supplied by God's riches in Christ Jesus. This requires choosing faith to enter and experience this rest. The Millennium will be humanity's greatest test, with 1,000 years of perfect environment, government, and justice. However, even during this period, people may still complain or resist God's leadership. Eternity will bring eternal unrest for those who reject Jesus Christ, but for believers, it will mean eternal rest. The heart of man is described as deceitful, fraudulent, and polluted, and only God can understand its true nature. Without faith, the mind is under the dictates of the sin nature and is untrustworthy. The transformation process involves proving the will of God through testing and trials, which are designed to mature believers and help them demonstrate the perfect will of God in their lives.
