What is the biblical teaching on being a hero of faith?

A hero of faith is a man or woman who has gone beyond maturity and learned to fight the good fight, taking responsibility for the lives of others. They are always ready to encourage, supply the needs of, and pick up fallen comrades, even when they make mistakes and fail. This status is illustrated by yachal, the healing faith of Job 13:15. To live as a hero of faith means living under the law of supreme sacrifice, considering the plan of God, the weak believer, and the unbeliever as more important than oneself. This mirrors Christ, who considered others more important than Himself and humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross (Phil. 2:3–8). Believers also become heroes of faith when they enter the area of sharing the sufferings of Jesus Christ, moving into an effective ministry of evangelizing the lost and edifying believers through Bible teaching and encouragement, even while regularly receiving attack and opposition from Satan. A hero of faith is not someone who has never failed or made mistakes, but one who always stands back up and returns to the battle, reflecting the confident faith of Psalm 57:1 that takes refuge in the Lord.
