What is the Bible's teaching on ministry and how does it relate to believers' lives?
The Bible teaches that every believer has a unique spiritual gift through which they are called to minister to the Body of Christ. This gift, bestowed by the Holy Spirit, defines the area in which we are to concentrate our service and outlines God's plan for our lives (1 Cor. 12:4-7). Ministry is not just about doing great things for God, but also about serving others and building up the Church. As believers, we are called to be servants to every other Christian, using our spiritual gift to build up and strengthen the Body of Christ (Rom. 12:1-8; Heb. 10:24-25). The Holy Spirit is the power behind the exercise of the gifts, but He always works in the background, never bringing attention to Himself. Our ministry is not just about what we do, but also why and how we do it - with faith, love, and humility (Heb. 11:6; Phil. 2:3-8). Ultimately, our ministry is an expression of our relationship to God and our responsibility to serve others in His name.
