No, there is no truce in the invisible war. From the instant we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ until we go to be with Him, there will never be a moment when the enemy is not on the offensive, and we are active participants whether we like it or not. The marathon runner's tactic that carries us through is to live one day at a time. The runner who dwells on all the miles ahead is inclined to give up, so he stops counting miles and thinks only of the next step; likewise we learn to pace ourselves, to deal with our adversities a day at a time, asking not "How will I handle this the rest of my life?" but "Can I make it through this day?" knowing grace is sufficient moment by moment.
