Why was the establishment of the kingdom of Israel postponed?
The establishment of the kingdom of Israel was postponed because Israel rejected her King. The Son of David had come and offered Himself to the Jews as Messiah, but they turned Him away, and so the earthly kingdom was set aside for a time while God initiated something totally unexpected. The prophecies of Daniel had already implied that there would be a break in the chronology of Israel's history, a period between the first and second coming of Messiah, and that period is the Church Age, during which the kingdom of God is being established.
