What is grace in the Bible?
Grace is all that God is free to do for mankind on the basis of the work of Jesus Christ. It is a resource that can never be earned or deserved, but only received as a gift; we are saved by grace through faith, and we grow in the Christian life by grace through faith. Because grace can be initiated and sustained only by God, He does all the work and there is no room for human effort, for grace and works are as mutually exclusive as light and dark. Grace gives us what we do not deserve: the righteousness of Jesus Christ, the riches of His glory, inheritance, power, and much more.
