What is the substance of spiritual power?
The substance of spiritual power is not just about feeling or experience, but about living out the character of Christ. The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are the expression of Christ's character and describe our relationship with God, others, and ourselves. Love (1 John 4:8, 16) is the foundation of these virtues, demonstrating a divine quality that is based on God's righteousness and justice. Joy (Romans 5:2-3; James 1:2) looks to eternity and endures trials and disappointments because it sees things from God's perspective. Spiritual power is not about what we feel or experience, but about living out the character of Christ in our relationships with others and ourselves.
