Explain the meaning and derivation of the term “faith-rest.”

The faith-rest technique takes its name and meaning from Hebrews 4, where God offers His people entrance into His rest. The Exodus generation failed to enter the Promised Land because the word they heard was not united by faith, but Hebrews 4:3 tells us that this life of rest is still available to those who believe. The rest is not heaven but spiritual maturity, a rest of maximum production and blessing, and we cannot enter it until we learn to have faith in the promises of God. Because faith is a learned response, we need a technique for learning it, and the faith-rest technique is simply the process of claiming biblical promises; as we do this day after day, we are pumping spiritual iron and our faith grows stronger.
