Name five daily disciplines that will prepare us for facing tests and temptation.
Five daily disciplines keep us ready for the tests and temptations that come. First, begin each day filled with the Holy Spirit, and keep current through the day by confessing every sin as it arises—mental, verbal, and overt (Ephesians 5:18; 1 John 1:9; 1 Corinthians 11:28-31). Second, meet the day with study and prayer, feeding on the Word and bringing everything to God (2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17; Philippians 4:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Third, be alert to apply the faith-rest technique daily, leaning on His promises rather than our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalm 37:4-7). Fourth, be alert to open doors of service, ready to give an answer and to finish the work He assigns (1 Peter 3:15; Colossians 4:17). Fifth, make the family the base of operations for applying doctrine, so that whatever we do in word or deed is done in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17-21). Practiced day after day, these habits train us to endure whatever testing comes.
