In what sense is the achievement of spiritual maturity the beginning of the normal Christian life?
Spiritual maturity is the point at which we begin to live the normal Christian life. By the time we reach it, we are able to maintain the filling of the Spirit for prolonged periods, so we are finally ready to start using to the full the resources God makes available to us. A believer who has arrived at maturity knows enough of the Bible to take responsibility for his own life, and he now faces the real question of the Christian life: am I going to be faithful in using what God has provided to accomplish the task He has given me to do? So maturity is not the end of the race but the place where the normal Christian life truly begins.
