How do we earn eternal reward? What is the relationship between blessing in time and reward in eternity?

We earn eternal reward by redeeming time, for reward is given for faithful production, which is the by-product of spiritual growth and maturity. The only production that counts with God is what the Holy Spirit produces through us, and all of it comes by grace; since only faith can lay hold of grace, our rewards in Heaven will be in direct proportion to our faith on Earth. That is the very same basis on which our blessing in time rests, for reward is based on our adjustment to God's truth, and so is blessing in time. At the Judgment Seat of Christ everything we did in our own strength will be consumed by fire, and only what we allowed the Holy Spirit to do through us will survive to be rewarded.
