What does the Bible teach about eternal security?

Eternal security is the truth that those who believe in the Gospel are saved forever. When a believer takes a stand with regard to the Lord Jesus Christ, they stand forever. This salvation is always in the present; it is a salvation that will last forever. The verb 'stand' in the perfect tense means that at a point of time in the past, believers took their stand on Christ, resulting in eternal security. Paul emphasizes this in Romans 5:2, saying that our stand is in grace, providing eternal security. Our salvation is rooted in being born again from an imperishable seed of the Word of God (1 Pet. 1:22–23), making it just as eternal and absolutely secure. The Holy Spirit assures a believer's eternal destiny through sealing (Eph. 1:13–14; 4:30). This seal marks the believer as God's private possession, serving as His own guarantee of safe delivery to their ultimate destination. God is able to save forever those who believe (Heb. 7:25) and is faithful to keep them saved (2 Tim. 2:13), making eternal security a reality for believers.
