Explain the command to “pray without ceasing.”

It does not mean praying non-stop, 24 hours a day. Literally the phrase pictures prayer like a hacking cough — always right below the surface, ready to erupt. We are to pray to God throughout the day the way two close friends who work together keep up a running conversation: not continuous, but always ready, touching everything in life. When we realize God is the best friend we have, there is nothing we won't bring to Him.
