What qualities will characterize the lives of people who choose to remain spiritual infants?

Those who choose to remain spiritual infants stay childish—the word is nepios, an adult who is childish—believers who have been in the family of God a long time but are still trying to make Christianity an outward thing instead of an inward one. They are tossed here and there by every wind of doctrine, constantly shifting, unstable, and affected by every external change in the wind, living a life built on circumstances rather than on the Word. They still make an issue of human production, human effort, and human good, never grasping that Christianity is supernatural and invisible; and often, like the readers of Hebrews, they have become dull of hearing and are in spiritual retreat rather than advancing.
