What is the service of spiritual power — identifying and developing our spiritual gift?
To identify our spiritual gift, we must engage God in prayer and ask Him to reveal it to us. We should not decide which gift we want and then try to make it ours, but rather pray for God's will for our service to be revealed. God alone determines the giving of gifts (1 Cor. 12:11, 18) — we do not choose our gift; God chooses it for us. We must also learn about the individual spiritual gifts by studying the passages that list them (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:27-31; Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Peter 4:10-11). By doing so, we can identify our gift and develop its use. As 1 Peter 4:10 says, 'As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.'
