What is the difference between a temptation and a test (or trial)?
A temptation and a test are the same event, but they differ in source and purpose. When we are in a tempting situation, the temptation is coming from the source of our old sin nature, backed by Satan and the cosmic system, and its aim is to get us to sin. But the test in that very same situation is coming from the Lord, and its aim is to exercise our faith. The temptation is to sin; the test is to exercise faith.
