What are spiritual gifts and how do they differ from the gift of the Spirit?
Spiritual gifts are divine enablements given to each believer at salvation for service and the edification of the Body of Christ. They differ from "the gift of the Holy Spirit," which relates to salvation and the believer's relationship in God's family. While natural talents relate to physical birth, spiritual gifts are supernatural and cannot be lost. These gifts are distinct from the fruit of the Spirit; gifts evidence the Spirit's indwelling, while fruit evidences His filling. All gifts are sovereignly bestowed by one Spirit, governed by one Lord, and powered by one God to function through love.
