Using the life of someone from the Old Testament, explain how Romans 8:28 works.
Joseph's life is the textbook case. It was bad that his brothers hated him, threw him in a pit, sold him into slavery, and that he was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit - yet God intended every bit of it for good. Joseph kept his perspective because he trusted the God who stood ready to work the bad things together for long-term good, and he could tell his brothers, 'You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.'
