What four commands must we obey in order to harness the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
To harness the power of the Holy Spirit we must obey four commands. First, be filled by means of the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18)—keep on being fully controlled by Him, a filling we do not produce but receive. Second, grieve not the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30)—stop the sin that brings Him the grief of losing a loved one. Third, quench not the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19)—do not douse His fire through indifference toward the Word of God. Fourth, walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)—make it a way of life to live every day in His power. The first is passive, something we receive; the other three are active, personal decisions that result in our consistently being filled.
