How do we know how serious sin is?
We measure the seriousness of sin only by God's own assessment of it. Sin is so terrible that the angels who sinned will never escape the Lake of Fire, that one act of Adam brought degeneration, depravity, and unfathomable suffering on the whole race, and that the perfect Son of God had to suffer to an infinite degree on the cross to redeem us. The cross is the true measure of how serious sin is.
