What does the Bible teach about the stages of suffering?

The Bible teaches that suffering is a part of God's plan for His children, and it comes in various stages. The first stage is trial and temptation, where we learn to master everyday aggravations and irritations through faith (1 Pet. 1:6-7). The second stage is undeserved suffering, where we endure maligning, slander, and injustice silently without retaliation (1 Pet. 2:19). The third stage is suffering for the sake of righteousness, where we face false accusations while remaining focused on Jesus Christ (1 Pet. 3:14-15). The fourth stage is sharing Christ's sufferings, where we receive opposition and attack while evangelizing and edifying believers (1 Pet. 4:12-13). Finally, there is the personal satanic attack, reserved for those who have a significant historical impact, where Satan himself seeks to destroy them (1 Pet. 5:8). Through these stages, our faith is refined, and we are empowered to bear suffering with strength from God's sufficiency revealed in weakness (2 Cor. 12:9-10). As we grow through the stages of the spiritual life, our suffering matures with us, and we become heroes of faith by sharing Christ's sufferings.
