Describe Job’s three friends and the “comfort” they offered.

Job's three friends were Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, princes in their own right and influential men with a deep understanding of doctrine. They made an appointment together to come and comfort him, and when they saw his pain they wept, tore their robes, and sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights without a word. But when they finally spoke, from chapter three through chapter thirty-one, they had no comfort to give; they judged, accused, and debated with Job, agreeing only that they were right and he was wrong. In all that time they uttered not a single word of comfort, support, encouragement, sympathy, or compassion. They had good motives, yet their good motives were distorted into evil actions, and they served the purposes of Satan.
