How would you explain spiritual gifts and the ministry of the believer to a friend? What Scriptures would you use?

I would tell a friend that the moment you trust Christ, God's Spirit hands you a specific ability — a spiritual gift — meant not to make you look good but to serve and build up others. No two are alike, and no one is left out. Your gift is where you'll come to know God most closely and where the world will most clearly see Him in you. The way to find it isn't to chase a gift but to serve — and the way up, Jesus said, is the way down.
