Who is the Angel of the Lord?

The Angel of the Lord is the preincarnate Christ. Every Old Testament appearance of God was the preincarnate Christ, the second Person of the Trinity, appearing on Earth in bodily form.

This bodily form is described in some cases as “the angel of the LORD” (Gen. 16:7–13; 22:11–18; 31:11–13; 48:15–16; Exod. 3:2–14; Judg. 6:11–23; 13:2–22).
