What is redemption?

Redemption is the act of Jesus Christ paying the price to buy us out of the slave market of sin, opening the gate so all who want to can go free (Gal. 3:13; 4:5).

The first biblical picture of redemption is found when God clothed Adam and Eve with garments of skin (Gen. 3:21). In this act, a guiltless animal was sacrificed to provide a covering for sinful man, demonstrating that man is helpless to bridge the spiritual separation from God caused by sin.

Because every sin has been paid for, believers have been redeemed and can walk boldly into the throne room of God (Heb. 4:16).
