What does the Bible teach about Hell?
Hell is not a place where people pay for their sins, as all sins were paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross. Rather, it is the eternal destiny that individuals choose when they reject the call of God (Matt. 25:41; John 3:16–18; Rom. 1:24, 26, 28). According to Scripture, God wants all men to be saved and has revealed Himself to man through various means, including creation, human conscience, His written Word, the Living Word, and the spoken Word (Psalm 19:1–2; Rom. 1:18–20). However, He created us truly free to choose how we will respond to His offer of life.
