What are the five strengths and kinks of the soul of man?

There are five faculties of the soul, and each can be built into a strength or twisted into a kink by our daily choices for or against the Word. Volition can choose a positive, receptive attitude toward the Word, or a negative one that automatically chooses misery. Mentality can fill the mind with the Word through Bible study, or fill it with vanity and emptiness. Conscience can become a storehouse of truth and a clear conscience, or be eaten alive by guilt, fear, and hardness. Emotion, under the control of God, becomes the center of our capacity for enjoying life, but out of His control becomes a tyrant riding the rollercoaster of emotional revolt. Self-consciousness, based on how God sees us in Christ, lets us accept ourselves realistically, but functioning apart from the Word it collapses into a hell of preoccupation with self. Good and evil both increase at compound interest, so the little decisions we make each day are of infinite importance.
